On the fiber, and literary, front...

Good morning everyone!  It is Wednesday, and we are Yarning Along with Ginny and joining in with Tami's Amis' Work in Progress  and Ambassador Crochet today!

Once I finished my son's blanket last week, I was a bit at odds.  But, that didn't last long.  I am now working on a sweater - for myself!  I am using Lion Brand Yarn Fisherman's Wool which has been lovely to work with.

Now, this is my first time working on a sweater, and I am taking a bottoms up approach, so we will have to see how it goes.  But, I am hoping to finish it before the end of winter.

Wearing wool in summer isn't so much fun.

On the literary side, I have a few books going.  I read and finished Barnheart by Jenna Woginrich (check out her blog Cold Antler Farm - love it) and it inspired me to move on to Joel Salatin's Folks, This Ain't Normal.  It is wonderfully thought provoking, making me reconsider quite a few things in my day to day practices.  I appreciate his absolute blunt honesty about how he sees the world.

I would easily put both of these books up with Barbara Kingssolver's Animal Vegetable Miracle, a book that I found to be completely life changing.

Well, that is all that I have for now.  The morning hours are coming upon me, and I have chickens to let out of their coop :)
Head on over to Ginny's, Tami's, and Ambassador's Crochet other interesting ventures into literary and fiber fun.

    1. So glad you also liked Animal Vegatable Miracle. Such an amazing book - that was the single thing that actually got me out of my house and into the dirt...and garden...and chickens...!!

    1. I am hoping it works out...I figure at the very worst, I will just frog it. Crossing fingers that it actually becomes something wearable, though...
PS - My hats only fit because I make them huge! :)

    1. Hi Mlissabeth, and Welcome!! I am currently thinking it will have sleeves, but as this is the first sweater for me...I am not quite sure how is will work out. I am envisioning a long flowy sweater with 3/4 sleeves....hmmm....

  7. The pattern is gorgeous! Even though I've been crocheting for quite a while and have only just started knitting, I always think of sweaters as something that can't be done in crochet, but have to be knitted. I really must get over that impression, it seems!

  10. I love the color you chose for the sweater. I've never used the Fisherman wool (although I've wanted to for some time, but need to use up my stash first), so its good to know someone that likes working with it. Can't wait to see the sweater. I'm sure it will be beautiful.

  11. I took on shrugs this week, but I'm scared! Sweaters seem super intimidating to me! Good luck though...your start looks really nice.
